"Welcoming and unique common environments that integrate local culture and the hotel’s contemporary style"
The Social Hub Porto attracts visitors with a varied offering in a single space:
- 271 four-star hotel rooms.
- 39 residential apartments for long stays and students.
- State-of-the-art gym.
- Numerous spacious shared zones: coworking, event and meeting spaces, auditorium, kitchens, and chill-out areas, among others.
- Landscaped courtyard open to the public.
- Rooftop with swimming pool and panoramic views from its signature cocktail bar.
The identity of Porto is felt in its design, with references to traditional tiles, ceramic details, or colors inspired by local architecture. This is also evident in spaces such as the Portuguese-inspired restaurant and café serving local produce.
A varied and precise intervention for a lively setting
Grupo Ramón García contributed to the project through the development of interior joinery and furniture for the shared spaces, participating from the economic study phase to the final delivery. The scope of work covered more than 2,600 m2 of interiors as well as the open inner courtyard of over 700 m2.
With materials suited to each use, we created unique pieces that stand out for their development and execution:
- Amphitheater-style tiered bench in the gaming area, with mitered structure, backlit panel, and custom upholstery, also incorporating electrification to enhance the space’s connectivity and practicality.
- Reception with coffee station, integrating lighting, in a niche for displaying products with a slotted, textured lacquer finish.
- Central round table with a cylindrical metal leg and wooden top, designed with integrated compartments through meticulous machining.
- Blue table made from recycled plastic materials with matching legs.
- Lacquered MDF sofa with ultramarine blue upholstery, accompanied by integrated metal bookshelves and planters that liven up the main staircase routes, adding value beyond functional use.
Lamps with a naval spirit
To bring a unique character to the lobby, we created a set of three large-scale cylindrical lamps (4 to 5 meters high), made from woven fabric evoking Porto’s naval tradition.
Each piece is topped with a backlit ring and anchored to the ceiling with a precise metal system of rods and tensioners, creating a light and scenographic effect that makes the lighting a focal point of the space.
The subtle beauty of decorative screens
The decorative screens, present throughout the hotel, serve as a distinctive highlight that enriches each space with an attractive and bold design, characteristic of the project’s style. Handcrafted and carefully placed one by one, two different types are used to add texture and depth.
Especially notable are the screens integrated into a table in the relaxation area. Their aesthetic and technical complexity makes this piece of furniture unique. The installation required meticulous development, both of the metal frame and the millimeter-precise fitting of the screens on its perimeter, ensuring a perfect fit. This feature, which might go unnoticed (the table leg), becomes a focal point and adds unique aesthetic value, enhancing the ensemble’s quality and personality.
Project outcome
At Grupo Ramón García we have faithfully brought to life the original design provided by The Social Hub. Our contribution focused on the development and installation of custom interior joinery and exclusive furniture, caring for every detail to ensure quality, functionality, and a flawless finish.
With an artisanal and technical approach, we adapted materials and solutions to create elements that respond to each specific use and spatial need, reinforcing their versatility without losing the creative essence of the project. In this way, we help shape welcoming and unique common environments that integrate local culture and the hotel’s contemporary style, with precision and commitment at every stage.
